Formation Vision — The Daily Bread for the Journey

The homily is a sacred moment in the Church’s worship where God’s living Word is opened, proclaimed, and brought into dialogue with our daily lives. Through it, Christ continues to speak to His people, nourishing them just as Israel was sustained by manna in the wilderness, receiving from God what was needed each day (Exodus 16:4). Jesus Himself reminds us that true life flows not merely from earthly sustenance, but from attentive listening to God: “One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). In this spirit, the homily is offered as daily bread for the journey—meant to strengthen faith, awaken hope, and guide the faithful as they walk the path of discipleship.

Rooted in Scripture and the life of the Church, the homily carries the apostolic mission entrusted by Paul to Timothy: “Preach the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient” (2 Timothy 4:2). It is a call to proclaim the Gospel with courage, fidelity, and love, while also bearing witness through one’s life, so that “no one may despise your youth, but you may set an example for the believers in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity” (1 Timothy 4:12). When faithfully preached and prayerfully received, the homily becomes a light for the journey, echoing the psalmist’s prayer: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Grace and peace to you as you seek the Lord with open hearts and willing minds.

The life of faith is not confined to a single season or moment, but unfolds as a lifelong journey with God. As we move through the rhythms of the Church’s year—Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time—we are continually invited to grow. In every season, the Lord teaches, forms, and renews His people. As Scripture assures us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). Anchored in Him, we learn to walk faithfully in every circumstance.

The School of Faith at the Christian Life Center exists to support this journey of discipleship. God calls us not only to believe, but to understand; not only to hear His word, but to let it take root in our lives. Jesus says, “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31–32). Formation in faith is an act of love—seeking to know Christ more deeply so we may follow Him more faithfully.

At the heart of our learning is relationship. Christ invites us, “Remain in me, as I remain in you” (John 15:4). The School of Faith is not merely an academic pursuit; it is a community where Scripture is prayed, questions are welcomed, and faith is formed through shared reflection and lived experience. Together, we grow in wisdom, humility, and trust in God’s providence.

Through the School of Faith, children, youth, adults, and families are nourished by Sacred Scripture, Catholic teaching, and spiritual tradition. Our homeschool and youth ministries help form young hearts to love Christ and His Church. Our adult formation strengthens believers to live the Gospel in daily life. Through the sacramental life, we are healed, sustained, and sent forth. As Jesus teaches, “Everyone who listens to these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise person who built his house on rock” (Matthew 7:24).

Faith grows best within a community that listens and serves. Saint Paul reminds us, “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit… To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit” (1 Corinthians 12:4,7). As we learn together, we discover how God is at work in each person, calling us to use our gifts for the building up of the Body of Christ.

The early Church offers us a living example of faith formation: “They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers” (Acts 2:42). In this same spirit, the CLC School of Faith seeks to be a place where no one journeys alone and where every seeker finds guidance, encouragement, and hope.

Along the path of faith, there are moments of joy and times of struggle. Some arrive eager, others weary with questions or burdens. To all, the Lord says, “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). In learning, prayer, and community, Christ meets us as teacher, healer, and companion.

Everything we receive is gift—faith, understanding, time, and one another. As Scripture exhorts us, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace” (1 Peter 4:10). When we share what we have received, faith becomes living, fruitful, and missionary.

Thank you for your desire to grow in faith and to walk with others on this journey of discipleship. Through your prayer, participation, and openness to learning, the Gospel continues to be lived and proclaimed at the Christian Life Center.
